How do we ensure the impacts and benefits of offshore wind development are shared equitably and fairly in our communities?
Community involvement is essential as is appropriate and timely dissemination of information. The old adage says, knowledge is power. The Gippsland community needs to feel empowered in both the planning, understanding the impacts of off-shore wind energy as well as the allocation of benefits. Reliance on web sites and digital technologies is perhaps insufficient, given the demographics of the farming and coastal communities. Allocation of Community Benefits Schemes need to be very transparent.
